RACV - Uluru - beyond the climb and things to do

Day 1 Friday 1st June - Fly Melb - Adelaide with Rhonda and Bruce Morris friends from Sale. We met with Helen - Fun Over 50 Tour Leader at Adelaide Airport and then visited Mt Lofty, Hahndorf & Melba's Chocolate & Confectionery Factory, before arriving at Grand Chancellor Hotel in the middle of Adelaide.

Day 2 Saturday 2nd June - Trip down Fleurieu Peninsula to Golwa & Murray River Mouth cruise on the Spirit of the Coorong. After viewing the river mouth we went to Victor Harbour Encounter Bay for lunch and return to Adelaide.

Day 3 Sunday 3rd June - Adelaide City sights tour before arriving at The Ghan station and depart Adelaide at 12.15. We settled into our Gold Class cabin for the trip to Marla where Ghan arrived around midnight. At 6.30 am we left train for an early morning breakfast and viewing the sun rising.

Day 4 Travelled on Ghan from Mala to Alice Springs where we were transferred to Lassiter's Crown Resort

Day 5. We went by coach from Alice Springs to Uluru where we had a sunset viewing with nibbles & drinks prepared by Helen & Katherine AAT Kings driver and guide for Red Centre stay at Sails in the Desert Resort.

Day 6 Departed at 6.00am for viewing Fields of Light and sunrise over Uluru.
After breakfast back at resort, we left for a tour of Uluru and Ayres Rock National Park including a visit to Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, Camel ride and a mid-afternoon return to Sails in the Desert Resort.

Day 7 Departed at 11.00 am for a helicopter flight over Uluru & Kata Tjuta. In the afternoon we visited Maruku Arts Centre for dot painting lesson. In the evening we went to an Outback dinner under the stars Sounds of Silence and return to the resort

Day 8 We departed resort for trip to Kings Creek walk, Karrke Aboriginal Cultural experience and Kings Canyon Resort

Day 9 We departed resort and did a walk along Kings Creek before departing for Eridunda for lunch and arrival at Lasseters Resort Alice Springs

Day 10 Visits to Alice Springs Telegraph Station, Pioneer Women's Hall of  Fame, Royal Flying Doctors Service (lunch). In the evening we went to an Outback BBQ bush dinner and entertainment

Day 11 Visits to Rev John Flynn's gravesite, Standley Chasm, Ellery Creek, Ormiston Gorge & Simpsons Gap. We then boarded The Ghan back at Alice Springs for late afternoon departure for Katherine

Day 12 Stopover at Katherine for 2 Gorge river cruises before arriving in Darwin where we were transferred to Skycity resort for final 2 night stay

Day 13 Litchfield National Park tour including Florence Falls, Litchfield cafe, Wangi Falls and return to Darwin with seafood dinner at Seafood on Cullen





















Day 14  Visit to Darwin Military Museum and end of Fun Over 50 Tour. We moved to our unit at Alatai Holiday Appartments
